The 'Skins' Clinton Portis hosts “Love from the DMV All White Charity Cocktail Reception” at Chevy Chase's Famoso Restaurant & Lounge. The all white event benefits the Clinton Portis Foundation and the Gulf oil spill relief efforts.

The proceeds raised from the cocktail reception will aid students along the Gulf Coast who have been displaced from their schools, athletic fields, and training grounds. DC’s Mike Easton to Defend UWC Bantamweight Title against Josh Ferguson

FAIRFAX, VA – In just over one year, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from the nation’s top MMA teams have come to the Washington, D.C. Capital Region to battle top local competitors at Ultimate Warrior Challenge (UWC) shows. And during this time period, the capital area fighters have more then held their own against the elite schools’ fighters, in fact often ‘punishing’ them in the process. The organization will promote that fact by showcasing the region’s best fighters at its next event, the aptly titled UWC – Capital Punishment, returning to the George Mason University Patriot Center on Saturday, April 25, 2009.

Leading the local charge will be dynamic bantamweight Mike “The Hulk” Easton (7-1), who captured the first UWC World Championship in front of the region’s largest pro MMA crowd at UWC – Man “O” War last month. He will defend his 135-pound title against another hot, out-of-town prospect, Josh “Taz” Ferguson (6-1), in the evening’s Main Event.

Rising regional stars expected to dole out their own form of ‘Capital Punishment’ on April 25th will be Kris “Savage” McCray (Woodbridge, VA) from Gold Medal Grappling and Easton’s Lloyd Irvin Martial Arts teammates Ron “The Choir Boy” Stallings (Baltimore, MD), Reshad Woods (Manassas, VA) and Jose “The Pistol” Villarisco (Arlington, VA).

Each of the eight events will feature a theme, ranging from a "Welcome to Denver Celebration," to a "Celebration of Civil Rights Icons" reception honoring the achievements and contributions of Coretta Scott King and Fannie Lou Hamer, among others, on Tuesday at Earls Restaurant.

Throughout the week, "Party With A Purpose" events will include appearances by prominent figures such as the Rev. Al Sharpton and other high-profile, influential personalities. On Tuesday evening at Vinyl Nightclub, actor Hill Harper from CSI: NY will headline a reception for his foundation, "MANifest Your Destiny," a non-profit youth organization dedicated to empowering, encouraging, and inspiring underserved males to succeed. On Wednesday morning at Earls Restaurant, actress Annette Bening will receive the Spotlight Initiative Award from the Creative Coalition in conjunction with her work for the film "14 Women."

On Thursday, at the Hyatt Host Hotel, the "Yes We Can" reception will follow Senator Barack Obama's acceptance of the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. Special guest Will.i.am and friends from his groundbreaking music video "Yes We Can" will attend, along with members of his band, The Black Eyed Peas, and numerous other celebrities.

Washington, DC. More than 600 professional African-American women will attend this luncheon honoring the city of birth.
The luncheon will recognize and celebrate the more than 5 million hours of community service its members of the Region have completed since 1926. This service has supported programs for those in need through education, literacy, the arts, health, disaster relief, and economic empowerment.

The BET HONORS Award ceremony for distinguished African-Americans was attended by numerous stars including Blair Underwood, Kerry Washington, Danny Glover, and Hill Harper.
